EMS Total Housing Scheme

                                              
The EMS Housing Scheme envisioned with the objective that there should be no homeless family in the state.It was estimated that there are 2 lakh landless families and a total of 5 lakh houseless families in the state as on June 2008. EMS total Housing scheme launched by Government of Kerala aims at providing house sites to all landless families and houses to all houseless families coming under the BPL category. The scheme will be implemented by the local bodies with the support of government. The Scheme was launched in Thrissur. At the tenth death anniversary of E.M.S, Chief Minister V.S.Achuthanandan, performed the state level inauguration of the scheme at Kodakara,Thrissur. Minister for Local Self Government, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, presided over the function. The ultimate goal of this Scheme is providing land and house to all those who are landless and houseless in the state.The Scheme also aims at repairing of Kutcha Houses including those built under 1 Lakh housing scheme. This is a purely state funded Scheme. The fund required is to be raised from the Plan Fund; by the way of raising loans from Banks especially Co-operative Banks by ULBs and other sources like contributions from NRI’s, Government Servants, and NGOs etc. It is a total subsidised scheme to the beneficiaries.It is proposed to complete construction of houses during 2009-2012
